Metal Garages

A metal garage is a fully enclosed steel structure designed to protect vehicles, equipment, and valuables from the elements while providing secure and functional space. Unlike open carports, metal garages include walls and doors, giving you complete coverage and added security.

At Redemption Steel, our garages are built with high quality materials and installed by experienced professionals to ensure long term durability and performance.

Metal Garages vs Metal Carports

What Is The Difference?

Both metal garages and metal carports are great options for protecting your vehicles and equipment, but they serve different purposes.

A metal carport is an open structure that provides overhead protection from sun, rain, and hail. It is a more affordable option and works well for basic coverage.

A metal garage, on the other hand, is fully enclosed with walls and doors. This provides added security, better protection from the elements, and more flexibility for storage, workshops, or business use.

If you are looking for a simple and cost effective solution, a carport may be the right choice. If you want maximum protection, security, and usable space, a metal garage is the better long term investment.

Metal Garages vs Metal Buildings

What Is The Difference?

The terms are often used interchangeably, but there are important differences.

A metal garage is typically smaller and designed for vehicle storage, workshops, or personal use. A metal building is a broader term that includes larger structures such as commercial buildings, barns, and warehouses.

If your main goal is to protect vehicles or create a functional workspace, a metal garage is usually the better option.

Metal Garages Sizes

Choosing the right metal garage starts with how you plan to use it. While garages are commonly categorized by the number of vehicles they can store, customization allows you to create a space that works for your property, your equipment, and your lifestyle. Here are the most popular options.

Single Car Garages

A single car garage is a great option for homeowners who need to protect a single vehicle or want a compact, functional space.

These garages are ideal for cars, trucks, motorcycles, or small equipment, while still leaving room for basic tools and storage. They also work well as a small workshop for simple maintenance or weekend projects.

If you are working with limited space or want a more affordable option, a single car garage offers reliable protection without taking up too much room on your property.

Two Car Garages

A two car garage is the most popular choice because it offers the perfect balance of space and versatility.

It provides enough room to comfortably park two vehicles while still allowing space for tools, storage, or a small workspace. Many homeowners also use this size to store seasonal items, lawn equipment, or create an area for projects.

If you want flexibility and room to grow, a two car garage is often the best overall value.

Three Car Garages

A three car garage is ideal for those who need extra space for vehicles, equipment, or business use.

With multiple bays, this option is perfect for storing several vehicles, larger trucks, trailers, or even tractors and lawn equipment. It is also a great choice for mechanics or anyone looking to create a full workshop setup.

If you need maximum space and long term flexibility, a three car garage gives you the room to do it all.

Garage Roof Types

When it comes to metal garages and their roof styles, there are only three options: regular roofs, boxed eave (A-frame) roofs, and vertical roofs.

Regular Roof Style

The regular roof style is a classic, budget-friendly option. It features a simple horizontal design that is easy to install and maintain. This option works well in milder climates and provides reliable coverage, but may not shed rain or snow as efficiently as other roof styles.

Boxed Eave A-Frame Roof

The A-Frame (Boxed Eave) roof style is more durable and visually appealing than the regular roof. It features a triangular shape that enhances the carports structural integrity while adding a more finished look. This design is better at shedding rain and snow, making it a good choice for areas with moderate to heavy precipitation.

Vertical Roof

The vertical roof is the most durable and weather-resistant option available. The panels run vertically along the roof, allowing rain, snow, and debris to slide off easily. This roof style is ideal for areas with heavy snow, wind, or rain, as it minimizes the risk of build-up and increases the longevity of the structure.

Framing Options For Metal Garages

Choosing the right frame is one of the most important decisions when purchasing a metal garage. Your framing system impacts the strength, durability, and long-term performance of your building. At Redemption Steel, we offer two reliable options to fit your needs and budget.

Tubular Steel Framing

Tubular steel framing is a cost-effective and durable option commonly used for residential metal garages. It provides solid structural support while keeping your project affordable. This option is ideal for standard garages, carports, and light-use buildings.

Benefits of Having a Metal Garage?

A metal garage offers a durable, fully enclosed structure with added security and privacy compared to open carports. It also delivers long term value with low maintenance, customizable options, and versatile use for storage, workshops, and more, all with faster installation than traditional construction.

How To Know If A Metal Garage Is For Me?

A metal garage is the right choice if you need a fully enclosed structure that provides maximum protection, security, and versatility for your property. If you want to protect vehicles or equipment from the elements, create a dedicated workspace, or add long term storage with minimal maintenance, a metal garage is a reliable and cost effective solution.

Metal garages can be used for a wide range of applications, including:

  • Vehicle Storage - Protect cars, trucks, boats, ATVs, and other equipment from sun, rain, hail, and debris while keeping them secure.

  • General Storage - Keep tools, equipment, and seasonal items organized and protected from weather and damage.

  • Business Use - Use your garage for small business operations, storage, or as a functional workspace.

  • Personal Space - Transform your garage into a hobby shop, home gym, or private hangout area.

Is a Metal Garage Easy to Maintain?

Yes! Metal Garages are incredibly easy to maintain, especially when constructed with durable materials like steel. To keep your metal garage in good condition, simply perform occasional inspections and clean the roof and sides to remove debris. In coastal areas with saltwater exposure, occasional rust prevention touch-ups may be needed. Beyond that, your metal garage will require minimal maintenance and will provide you with years of reliable service.

Do I Need a Permit to Install?

Permit requirements vary by location. It is the customer's responsibility to contact your local county or city officials to determine whether a permit is required before purchasing your structure.

We're happy to provide any specifications or documentation you may need during the process.

Can A Metal Garage Be Wired For Electricity

Yes, metal garages can be wired for electricity to support lighting, tools, and equipment.

However, any modifications to your structure could affect your warranty. It is always best to verify with the manufacturer warranty before making any changes.

How to Prepare for Your Install?

To ensure a smooth and efficient installation, the installation site must be level within 3 inches. For best results, we recommend preparing a pad slightly larger than your structure. For example, if your metal garage is 18 x 20, a pad size of 18.5 x 20.5 helps ensure proper fit and prevents the structure from sitting on the edge.

We also require at least 3 feet of clearance around the structure to allow our installation team to work safely and efficiently.

Proper site preparation helps prevent delays and ensures your building is installed correctly.
